Okay, this is going to be one of the many previous and future one-liners from my long-time friend, and Last Job coauthor, Buck Bloom.

To set the scene, Buck and I are at our favorite sushi place. It's been an eventful morning with resolving back-end documentation that we need done for Last Job, but isn't part of the manuscript itself. We had lost hours with mistakes and after finally completing something that should only have taken half an hour, we were at 1pm (from a start time of 8am). There had already been a lot of stress and laughter this morning, so Buck's quote hit harder when we were at the sushi place.

We chose to celebrate the victory of the battle over simple paperwork by eating sushi, which we hadn't done together in months. The sushi was delicious, the staff goodhearted and familiar with Buck (who frequents the establishment with family), and the best part was the lunch was all we could eat.

There he was, third plate of sushi completed and now onto the final hibachi of the meal. This particular restaurant has the best hibachi I have ever eaten, the sauce is savory and delicious, the meat (especially the shrimp) is succulent and melts in the mouth, the veggies are also served the same way as the meat and cooked with a satisfying squish that is actually refreshing instead of slimy.

Mid-way through his chicken hibachi Buck goes, "Ooh!"

"You okay man?"

"Yeah," he holds up a slice of carrot, "this is a strong tasting carrot!"

I burst out laughing. "Really? The carrot is what's strong?!"

That interaction is absolutely a big part of who Buck is. Finding the one out of the box thing in an otherwise fully saturated idea/experience.
